Because our visual system cannot process all incoming information in the world, mental function called “attention” enables us to select and process the information relevant to our goal, while filtering out other irrelevant information. I investigate how we live through this world by prioritizing some information over other information by utilizing both eye-tracking and non-eye-tracking methods. At the CCCR, I wish to bring my visual cognition expertise to investigate (a) how different community contexts shape one’s attentional selection mechanisms and (b) how such selection mechanisms can adapt to new and/or unfamiliar community contexts. I enjoy working with researchers across different fields.
