About

My research focuses on maternal-child development, with an emphasis on behavioral and mental health. In the United States, maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rates are among the highest of any industrialized nation. These devastating outcomes are notably higher among racial and ethnic minorities and among low-income families. One goal of my research is to address these health disparities by increasing accessibility of behavioral and mental health services for underserved communities. For example, one of our projects at the EMBERcenter involves connecting pregnant and postpartum individuals with support from a peer in their own community.
