About

As a positive psychologist, I am interested in how supportive contexts and culturally relevant goals can nurture positive changes in mindfulness. This work envisions an array of good-fitting contextual enrichments and goal pursuits — beyond formal meditation interventions — that support being and becoming more mindful in more moments. This research involves collecting ecologically rich data in people’s everyday lives using the experience sampling method.

I am also interested in positive psychological approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recently, my lab began a series of studies with the internationally renowned VIA Institute on Character to examine character strengths (e.g., social intelligence, fairness) that empower male identified individuals to pursue different kinds of allyship strategies (e.g., highlighting strengths, calling out) to support equity and inclusion for the female identified individuals with whom they work. We plan to expand this work to examine the role of character strengths in overcoming barriers to allyship.
